The Meaning of Each Tarot Card: The Court Cards |
The Court cards in a tarot deck are considered by some as the most intriguing among the cards in a tarot deck. The meaning of each tarot card which form the court cards reflect the personality of the seeker and the people who influence the seeker and much can be read into the personality and the environment of the seeker by examining court cards.
Court cards in a tarot deck are the cards with the pictures of Kings, Queens, Knights and Pages. Each suite of cards in a tarot deck has a set of court cards. Each set of court cards reflect the seeker and the people that influence the life of the seeker. Different tarot experts through history have given different interpretations to the meaning of each tarot card called court cards, but it is universally agreed that they represent people. Some believe they represent the members of the seeker's family while others merely say that they represent the age of the person who influences the life of the seeker.
A simplistic view taken by tarot divination professionals is that the court cards represent human beings of different ages. The King and Queen represent males and females who are mature or married. The Knight is the symbol of youth between the ages of 15 and 30 and the Pages are children. Since four court cards are found in each deck, the professional treats them as sixteen people sitting at a meal, each with a different personality. The seeker's question is put to each of the personalities and the meaning is interpreted from sixteen different points of view. If the seeker has a deeper problem the professional with concentrate and reveal how each personality will deal with the problem and give interpretations based on the meaning of each tarot card that form the court cards.
Each court card is clothed with a character. In the suite of cups, the King is a loving person, the Queen is a helpful person, the Knight is a hopeless romantic and the page is a lazy idealist. In the suite of pentacles, the King represents a wealthy man, the Queen is generous and kind, the Knight is a handsome brooding introvert, and the Page is a happy pleasant soul. In the suite of swords, the King is cold and analytical, the Queen is malicious, the Knight is a person who takes charge and the Page is deceitful. In the suite of wands, the King is a dynamic person full of ideas, the Queen is thoughtful, the Knight is excitable and the Page is an achiever.
When the professional combines the meaning of each tarot card that forms the court cards, the influence on the seekers life will be revealed. Cards facing each other will show beneficial personality influences, cards facing away will show adverse influences, and reverse court cards show an attribute in the seekers personality that is not yet developed. Court cards are the cards in a tarot deck that represent people. The meaning of each tarot card that forms the court cards shows the relationship of the seeker with other people.
