The Meaning of Flying Dreams
Dreams about Flying Dreams, interpreting your bad dreams, learn what they mean! Find out now FREE! The meaning of flying in dreams is usually very positive. Most people experience the flying sensation as being pleasant. It is usually accompanied by a feeling elation and freedom. It can predict that you will be soaring to new heights in your life.

Sometimes the meaning of flying in dreams is fear, especially if you have a fear of heights of falling. If you fall from a great height in a dream, it can symbolize enormous anxiety about the future or what you have. It would most certainly symbolize a fear of a fall from grace, but not necessarily predict one as not all dreams are prophetic in nature.

Dreams about flying can also symbolize freedom from troubles. It can literally mean that you are as free to fly as a bird. If you dream you are flying around in the sky, it may be represent the expansion or elevation of your spiritual life. Freud interpreted dreams of flying to mean the release of sexual tension.

If you do have such a dream, ask yourself what it is that you feel you are being released form. It may be a difficulty or emotional problem that has been plaguing you for some time. Many people who suffer from depression know that it is lifting because they experience the elation of a flying dream. The meaning of flying in dreams is almost always positive for those who suffer from mental illness.

One risk in a flying dream is that of flying too high. The myth of Icarus, from ancient Greece warns us not to fly too high. If you do have a flying dream where you have gone to heights you haven’t before, then it is possible that you are being over egotistical.

If you feel you have left your body while dreaming and are flying around the room, it can sometimes mean that you are experiencing a health problem. Many people who consume codeine products and opiates will have dreams that they are flying or that they have left their body and are flying around the room.

From ancient times until now, flying dreams have also been known to mean that a person’s soul has left the mortal planes and is meeting higher authorities on the astral planes. The Native Americans, the Babylonians, the Hindus, the Tibetan Buddhists and many other culture claims this light body, which is a mirror of our physical body, leaves the body during sleep and consorts with departed souls, angels, and beings that live in other dimensions.

Some people also dream that they are traveling to visit a loved one who is not with them. Often during these dreams, the person flying to the lover sees them in bed. So if you have a dream about flying, then it is possible you are participating in a bit of astral travel. Many people purposefully try to dream they will visit a lover during the night by telling themselves they will envision it before they go to sleep.

I have been having flying dreems for a while. First I used to face lots of hurdles like electical cables, tree branches, hills etc. But lately i dont see any hurdles. I can freely fly and reach my destination. Last two dreams have been little different. I am at certain height and i want to land on ground, but I have fear that I might hurt myself, but when i land, i land safely. Can you please explain what is going on with me.

Voneda, it sounds that you are trying to get away from something or escape from something in your life that is hurting you in whatever way. Flying to get away from danger is escape. Aries, a dream where you are in zero gravity and it hurts a lot shen you hit something generally means that you are emotionally out of control about things or are not emotionally grounded and because of it always seem to hit rock-bottom. That is painful.

Lynne, it actually doesn't necessarily mean that. First of all, you did t say clearly whether this guy in the backseat is a guy you really know or a true in-law in your waking life... Or is he just a random character in a dream you've never seen before. And more importantly, how did you FEEL in the dream? It seems to me that this dream speaks more to the idea that you are driving your life to new heights but there is something or someone trying to be in your life and a part of you realizes that if you don't stop it now, you will crash... Metaphorically. If you felt exhilarated, then the same interpretation applies. That you are doing something wild but you know better.

I'VE BEEN HAVING FLYING DREAMS FROM THE CHILDHOOD WHEN I WAKE UP IT LOOKS TO ME THAT I CAN FLY AND WAS FLYING FEW MINUTES BEFORE. MY FLYING DREAM IT IS NORMAL FOR ME TO FLY.BUT SOMETIMES COMING TO GROUND IS NOT EASIER FOR ME BECAUSE I FEEL I WAS HAVING VERY LIGHT WEIGHT. I LIKE TO BE CLOSER TO GROUND BUT SOMETIMES CROSSES 30 TO 40 FEET ABOVE GROUND. I SEE OTHERS BELOW SOMETIMES THEY NOTICE ME OTHER TIMES THEY DON'T. IN THE DREAM IT IS LIKE NORMAL THING I CAN FLY AND OTHERS CAN'T. THERE IS NEVER ANYONE ELSE FLYING IN MY DREAMS JUST ME. HOPE TO HEAR FROM SYLVIA ON THIS TOO. REGARDS RK

Phyllis -- I don't remember ever 'flapping' but I frequently was aware of effort or physical exertion, and a sense of having to work very hard at it. The setting of my flying dreams was always at night flying over lighted houses and towns etc., so when I heard Sylvia Browne talk about us leaving our bodies to astral travel while we were sleeping, the whole recurring experience made alot of sense.

I am a "flapper". Does anyone else "flap" or not? Also, when I was younger I had a lot of flying dreams, but it seemed I was always being pursued by bad things. I know I've had vampires chasing me, and other times just bad dark figures chasing me. They were very scary dreams. I haven't flown for awhile now.
