Water in Your Dreams
Meaning of Dreams about Water Dreams, interpreting your bad dreams, learn what they mean! Find out now FREE! Water is a very universal symbol so the meaning of dreams about water varies from person to person. In general, however, water is seen as an omen. If you dream of calm water, then your time ahead in life will be smooth but if you dream of rough waters then you may have difficulties.

One meaning of dreams about water is sexuality. Swimming in a dream can be very much compared to the sex act. This is especially true if you dream that you are being sprayed with water. If the water is sprayed on your head, your love for someone else will be reciprocated.

Water in a dream is also thought to represent cleansing, especially spiritual renewal. This comes from its Christian relationship to the baptismal act, which involves pouring water over the head.

Dreaming of drinking water can mean spiritual solace as well, especially if the water is cold. If the water is hot, it can mean that business will not be so hot and that you can experience setbacks.

It is very good to dream of a fountain or a waterfall. Both symbolize prosperity, health, and lasting happiness. If you dream that you are in a pool of gently flowing water, it means peace of mind. If the water smells or is stagnant, it can symbolize disappointment.

The quality of the water in the dream can also be an omen. If the water is dirty or murky, it can symbolize difficulties. To fall into muddy water means you will make a mistake that you will deeply regret. To drink muddy water means you may feel guilty about something.

If you dream that you are throwing or spilling water, it means that you need to control your temper or that your emotions are out of control.

If you are dreaming that you are drowning, it can indicate that you are feeling overwhelmed or suffocated by your life circumstances and that you need some relief. Dreaming of very deep water means that you might have a sense of foreboding or menace about someone or something.

When it comes to dreams about water, floods can also mean that you feel overwhelmed. It can also mean that a good deal of psychic energy is being unleashed at one time.

Dreaming that you are lying by a swimming pool might simply be a wish fulfillment dream. It is a wish to increase your status in life.

It is also a good luck to dream that you are in a forest or desert and that you stumble along a creek. However, raging rivers, rapids and frothy water can mean that you are no longer feeling in control of your life circumstances.

Dreaming of taps is also considered to be an ill omen, especially if the tap is leaking or water. Taps symbolize a lack of control over one's circumstances as well.

I had a dream once that I was fishing for frogs in a fountain. I could've just stuck my hand in there and grabbed them, but for some reason, I couldn't put my hand in the water.

Yeah, Alicia maybe you could tell us more about your dream. I don't think it is a good sign either. I believe these types of dreams aren't really giving great meanings and every time I face these I always prepare. Maybe that's what I just think.

Alicia, what a strange dream. Did you ever get to find out what that dream meant? I've never dreamt about a wolf before and from the way wolves are generally percieved I don't believe they are good symbols in our dreams. I'm curious and would check up what wolves in dreams mean.

@ Alicia: A white wolf is a very positive dream symbol. It's a sign of winning out over whatever you feel is pushing you down just now - light triumphing over dark, vanquishing enemies seen and unseen. The wolf's a reminder of what qualities you possess. You're an easy going, self assured, friendly and outgoing person that has no trouble being with unfamiliar people or in unfamiliar places. You'd just take that in your stride and mix in fine. Hmmm, I want to say "or you were...". I have a feeling that's changed with your current boyfriend in the picture. The wolf being actually in the water but rising out of it on the rock says to me you're remembering the essence of who you are in amongst all the emotions you're feeling right now. You're remembering you're your own person and even though you might have lost your way a bit in that respect, you're bringing that knowledge to the fore again and saying "hey, this is who I am and no one will tell me different." Are you feeling a bit claustrophobic or tethered in your relationship, a bit like you're not allowed to be your true self and need to tone down your personality to keep your boyfriend happy? It's funny, sometimes the very things that made us attractive to a person in the first place they want to dampen in us once you become a couple...I think that's an insecurity thing that someone will steal you away, but I digress. In a nutshell, it's a good dream reminding you you're still you and not some shadow of your former self. You didn't mention if the water was clear or murky, calm or rough... I'd be interested in that detail if you can recall it. That's all imho of course! You'll know best. :)I suggest too you look into totem animal dreams if you find you dream of this white wolf a lot. :)

@Marilyn: Tornadoes are symbolic of destructive and volatile natures. When you see several tornadoes in a dream,it can be about others rather than yourself though. Is there someone in your life that's very emotionally charged and angers easily? The fact you're seeing the tornadoes in the distance makes me wonder if you're seeing this behavior is on the horizon - it's far enough away still that you're getting glimpses of it in this person and wondering if it's going to lead to something more "up close and personal." Hurricanes have a similar meaning in that it's about emotional upset but hurricanes indicate them blowing up fast. Usually you dream of them when you're overwhelming by frightening and negative emotions and at tipping point. Basically you're ready to blow a gasket over it. I think there's fears of this other person's nature and what they are capable of at the root of it but of course you'll interpret it best yourself. Hope that helps.

@Markie: Whirlpools represent emotional turmoil. As for the Gurney, I honestly have no clue. Having any problems involving healthcare and hospitals? Some dreams are rather concrete than abstract.

I had a dream about water and I can say I agree with it. I am a short tempered guy and that kind of dream helps me realize that maybe I should check my fuse because it is not only bothering others but it also bothers myself in the sense that it makes me uncomfortable.

I see that you mentioned floods as being overwhelmed. I'm having dreams with Tornados and Hurricanes. I'm on a beautiful coastline then, all the sudden several tornados are lined up down the coast. I can feel the wind as they get closer to me. Is my life in turmoil?

I dreamed that I was being called to the woods were there was this lake or something. The voice was coming from the inside of the water. I looked inside and there was a white wolf and he was calling my name. I dove into the water to talk to him. It was strange because he was actually standing on a big rock like a mountain on land but he was in the water. I look at him and he said I'm back. He said something else But I felt There was someone else there with me to my left shoulder but I could not see who it was. I heard my Boyfriend come looking for me and I swam back up before he came to close to the water because I did not want him to fall in or something. I walked back into the woods with him and I woke up. Alicia Hart

Contrary to what you have mentioned about taps, I read somewhere else that, dreaming of water running from a tap is good. I once had a dream in which I saw a tap with running water and when I checked it up it meant something good.
