Astrology In The Bible
Astrology in the Bible Many Christians do not believe in astrology, but it is mentioned in a general way quite frequently in the Bible. One of the most famous quotes that astrologers use as to explain that astrology is not evil is:

"There shall be signs in the sun, the moon, and the stars." – (Jesus Christ, Luke 21:25)

Then, of course, there is one of the most famous astrological omens in history – The Star of Bethlehem. The star was supposed to be a sign from God that the Messiah was about to be brought into the world. In 1600, the astronomer Johannes Kepler brought forth the theory that the star was actually a conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn, which looked like one big glowing star.

The conjunction also brought he prediction that a Messiah will be born. This is because Saturn rules the Jews and Jupiter is a symbol of royalty. Astrologically, this was very prodigious for someone who would eventually be called “The King of the Jews.”

Yet another interesting Biblical aspect to astrology is that the twelve signs of Israel are also associated with the Zodiac signs. Jewish temples in holy lands often have the twelve signs of the Zodiac in their temple floors.

There is also support for astrology in the book of Genesis. In Genesis 1:14 -1:15, it is written,

"And God said, ‘Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years, and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the Earth.’ And it was so." ‘

Another famous astrology reference to do with signs in the sky is in Luke 21:25-27,

"And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the Earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the Earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. And then shall they see the Son of man coming in a cloud with power and great glory."

The Bible also frequently refers to the Morning Star or the Lightbringer. This is another name for the planet of Venus, which shines brightly as the sun rises.

In Revelations 22:16, Jesus even calls himself the morning star saying,

"I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright morning star."

No discussion of the Bible’s relationship to astrology would be complete without some reference to the Piscean Age. Jesus was born under the end of the age of Aries (the ram or lamb)

In astrology, each age lasts 2160 years and right now we are at the tail end of the Piscean age. When Jesus found his “fishers of men” that were the twelve disciples, it was beginning of the Age of Pisces. There was the feeding of fishes to hungry people at the Sermon of the Mount and Christians are often called specula, which means little fishes.

Astrology refers to every 2160 years as a new "age," which is a different sign of the zodiac that comes into position to influence the Earth. The Bible describes events that will occur according to the signs of the astrological "ages".

A commonly used symbol in the Christian churches is the "Vesica Piscis," which is Latin for "mouth of the fish". Its shape resembles a fish without a tail and is identical to the Zodiac sign that is often used for Pisces.

In Sylvia Brownes question & Answer book for Novus, she says Jesus was born in the summer. It was June 25th. Also he was crucified, but didnt die and went on to spend the rest of his life in Southern France. Refer to "The Mystical Life of Jesus", by Sylvia Browne. The Bible was written almost 300 years after Jesus died! A lot of History was destroyed or misplaced when the Cathars to over. Its all History. Plus we are responsible for all our misdeeds. Look it up. Read the LLamsa Bible. Plus if you believe in Prophets of old, then you must beleive in Psychics of the New age. They are the same. Astrology is real. It works.

I very much love and respect Jesus as the greatest spiritual teacher that he was and still is, however why do christians say that He died for our sins yet basically everyone's going to hell unless they're christian?

Peggy, I agree w/you. I know many Aries that are so giving, thoughtful, ambitious and courageous. I guess it depends on how they grew up within their own families. That can make a huge difference. As for using the Bible w/astrology...it doesn't matter to me what people think/say. I believe in "The Word" and what is truth. That means that I live w/Jesus Christ in my heart and I know where I'm going when I die. He bore it all on the cross. It's up to us as individuals to choose the right path. It's not about religion. It's about what I just wrote. Amen sista!

I found the factual comments from Astrology in the Bible to be a very helpful & useful tool to inform other seekers of spiritual truth, on their path of spiritual illumination. And I also learned much, myself. Thanks for printing this! Martha.

specula, which means little fishes. This word never had anything of the sort associated with it. It is a vaginal tool used in Rome, too usually made of bronze and therefore easily the metal was recycled so lost but for a few. Please be careful with the words and meanings you ascribe to this book of faith.

In response to all, no one really knows when Jesus birthday was, but it does not matter since he did sacrifice himself for all of us. To answer Martha: You must not know many Aries, because you have them all wrong. Both my children are Aries and I could not ask for more. When we need help, our son is always there. Our daughter calls daily to make sure we are ok and is a wonderful mother to her children as well. Both are very loving, caring, giving and family oriented. Our son and his wife are down in Mexico, again, helping to build a habitat for the poor. Selfish and not giving?? Not on your life. Where ever you got your information from was wrong. Research some more and meet more Aries. You will be surprised at what you find. Peace and Light

I find it intresting that christians believe in prophets of the bible but not in modern day prophets or natual divinations like astrology. I mean, what's the difference?
By Tiffany, Sunday, July 26, 2009 12:29:09 PM
I think people really need to think about why they choose to be apart of religious congregations. They need to figure out if they are seeking truth about God, life, death and everything else in between because religion and spirituality are different. Truth is easy to find when we keep open minds and hearts. And I believe Sylvia Browne when she says she thinks Jesus had a july birth.
