General Astrology Forecast for 2010
General 2010 Astrology Forecast So what do the planets have in store for us in 2010? Here is a breakdown of what we can expect to influence us astrologically in the New Year.

First of all, some influences from 2009 are going to drag on into 2010.

The first is the planet Saturn’s fluctuations from residing in Libra and Virgo. In Libra, the disciplinary influence of Saturn seems to be a little less harsh, but once it swings back into Virgo, the axe comes down and we all have our noses to the grind stone again just trying to make ends meet. We just got a break from the harsh restricting energy of Saturn in Virgo, but Jupiter will be entering Virgo again from April 7 to July 7 in 2010 before it enters gentler Libra again for the rest of the year.

This means that in the beginning of the year, most people will get a bit of a break from some of the financial hardships they experienced last year, but the spring may be a difficult time for many once again. In fact, many astrologers are pegging the spring of 2010 as the point at which we may finally start to see some recovery in the economy.

Saturn in Libra will bring us issues to do with leadership, old age, the health system, and mental health into focus in your personal life. The good news is that Saturn in Libra can help matters that are problematic be resolved more efficiently than usual. Unfortunately, Saturn in Libra can also bring in a human element that can be bureaucratic, time consuming, and even overly emotional. It may be harder to get necessary documents to be processed than usual.

Chiron, the “wounded healer,” has been in Aquarius since 2005 and will stay there until April 20, 2010. Some people who have felt paralyzed by their emotions will suddenly feel like they can make a brand new start in life.

Uranus, the planet of shocks and surprises, continue to make life a bit bizarre throughout 2010. This planet of innovation will finally move out of Pisces and into Aries in on May 27, 2010, which means that we will see a big leap in technology and exciting inventions take center stage.

Neptune also remains in the visionary sign of Aquarius all this year. This continues to inspire us to seek out new ways of looking at the world and at humanity in general.

Pluto, the planet of death and rebirth, is going to stay in Capricorn (the sign of the Goat and presumably the Devil) until 2023. This influence is deeply transformative on all levels. This is the configuration that helps support theories about the apocalypse happening, as it signifies endings and new beginnings.

There are several planetary configurations coming up known, as the Grand Cross years. This is because on August 6th - a configuration in the sky called Cardinal Grand cross is formed involving Jupiter and Uranus in Aries, Pluto in Capricorn, the moon in Cancer, and Venus with Mars and Saturn in Libra.

The Sun at fifteen degrees Leo is the last component in this Grand Cross. It creates a very stressful atmosphere. Something very big could happen during that time that changes humanity and civilization in a deeply significant way that is peasant.

On a personal level, if you have been wandering around on “autopilot,” you are likely to get some kind of wake up call that makes you change your life. You may simply feel more motivated to change the world for the better or you may be put in a situation where you are able to better confront your demons.

Pluto in Capricorn is particularly merciless. Pluto is a harsh teacher and Capricorn is a sign of facing up to the cold hard facts. Many of us will be feeling like we are making the same mistakes over and over again and can’t seem to learn the karmic lessons that would allow us to rise above our mistakes. The spookiest part of having Pluto in Capricorn is that many of us will be feeling like we are playing out scenes from our childhood, as adults and that old Frank Zappa saying, “The older we get, the more life seems like it was in high school.”

The energy of Pluto can also be cathartic, terrifying, and seem downright evil. Many changes brought by this planet are permanent. After you make certain decisions on a personal level this year, there may never be any turning back for you. As Pluto is such a slow moving planet, the decision is going to stick.

Pluto is also a planet that indicates power struggles and Capricorn is the sign that symbolizes war and political struggles. There is likely to be a great deal of strife in the various bigger kingdoms of the world.

A similar T-Square was seen in the late 1930s, which of course brought us the Great Depression. We are going through a similar depression now. This same Uranus/Pluto/Mars combination was also seen during the rise of Nazism. We could see the rise of similar militant and fanatical military and political movements across the world.

However, in the energy of this grand cross, we also have Mars in Leo. This is a counterpoint to the merry-go-round of energies supplied to us by Pluto in Capricorn. This is an energy which helps us burst free of our usual constraints and motivates us to change. The only problem is that because this is such a fiery and even violent combination that the changes will seem unexpected, intense, and even violent in nature. Many people will be shocked and then eventually rejuvenated by the ruptures that the energy of Mars in Leo will bring us.

Furthermore, Mars is retrograde for the first four months of the New Year – until June 2010. This means that a lot of our aggression will be misdirected. It is also likely that we will be more motivated by our motivations. Things will move along at a hectic pace that may seem inconvenient to some. However, when Mars is retrograde, it can also inspire us to learn a new hobby or skill. We are motivated to change our conscious, take courses, and compete with others. Many of the fire signs will experience a deep need to be number one in all that they do!

Needless to say, those with their Sun and Moon in Aries, Capricorn, Cancer, Libra, and Leo are going to feel some kind of shake upon their lives thanks to the challenges brought to their lives by this cross. It is difficult to say what these challenges will be for each sign, as it will depend on where certain planets are in your individual chart.  However, the last time we saw a cross like this was in 1968, which can be considered to be an “annus horriblus” that saw bloody, useless slaughters in Asia as well as the assignation of many great world leaders.

Anyone born in the mid 1960s will likely feel the challenges of this Grand Cross as well. These individuals may feel like they should take a more active role in somehow shaping and preserving society. The world will definitely seem a little more serious by the end of the 2010 thanks to the events that his Grand Cross could bring us.

Throughout history, when Saturn, Pluto, and Uranus form hard alignments such as a T-Square, it has brought on a time of socio-economic and political destabilization, tension, and derision. We could be in for a frustrating time.

We could see a lot of student demonstrations and rioting next year. People will be straining to change these unacceptable conditions. Growth and evolution is demanded yet hard to achieve with this type of planetary alignment. Yet at the same time, the “butting” of ideas and the stalemate can force humanity to come up with solutions to problems that should have been dealt with a long time ago. In this case, the polarities are Saturn’s restrictions versus the liberating attitudes associated with Uranus. The visionary people in our society will be battling with the more practical individuals for supremacy.

Basically, whenever we see this type of T-Square inside a cardinal cross, we see the breakdown of the old order and new order arise. Of course, this type of “brave new world” does not evolve overnight.  However, we can look forward to political visions and movements that can create a wonderful new order that serves us all better.

Yet another interesting thing that this Grand Cross could bring us this year is the “awakening of the Indigo Children.” These are the restless, visually oriented youth that started being born in the late eighties and early nineties who are supposed to be those that marshal us through the rough times ahead. With regards to this, I guess only time will tell however the many crisis’s brought forth by the planetary configurations that will take place from 2010 until the supposed apocalyptic date of December 21, 2012.
