Pop Astrology: Simon Cowell
Pop Astrology - American Idol's Simon Cowell Simon Cowell is a Libra, but an out of balance one. It is a bit ironic that one of the meanest people on television is born under such a diplomatic sign. He was born October 7, 1959 (the time is unknown).

Another reason that Cowell does not fit the profile of a typical Libra is because he is known for being very cut throat and decisive, whereas most Libras are known for waffling and not ever making a decision. He is blunt, critical, and insulting, which also seems to go against the gentle sun sign of Libra’s essential nature.

So why is he sarcastic when most people born under the sign of the scales are usually more willing to please?

There is more to his chart and also his personal history then meets the eye. In terms of career, he first became a judge on the U.K. show Pop Idol in 2001. In 2002, he made a big splash as a judge on American Idol. However, aside from that he is a prolific record producer and he has also launched the incredibly successful opera singer group known as Il Divo.

However, Cowell is known for several talent reality shows, including American Inventor and American’s Got Talent, which he co-produces with long time British partner producer Simon Fuller. All of these shows are about procuring new talent and transforming people’s lives.

Cowell’s chart is very unusual. He has absolutely no planets in the tenth, eleventh, twelfth, and first second third and fourth houses. He Most of his planets are in Virgo, Libra, and Sagittarius. These are notoriously fussy and nitpicky signs that are concerned only with ideals.

He also has Venus in Virgo, which defines a very sarcastic individual. Virgo is a very cold sign and when Venus is in there, it can signify a person filled with a vicious and hollow dissatisfaction with life. The other thing about having Venus in Virgo is that it can create a person that does not really allow other people’s opinions to matter. This has caused him many problems with fellow juror Paula Abdul, who is a Gemini and who would find it outrageous that he denies others’ output.

However, Simon remains popular because Venus in Virgo makes others want to crave your approval.

He also has Pluto in the fifth house. The fifth house rules the entertainment business and, in terms of that, Cowell is one of the most famous men in the world.

However, Pluto is a very dark planet and it is also the planet of transformation. Cowell has transformed many lives and helped ccreate many superstars, including Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, and Carrie Underwood.

The downside of having Pluto in this place is that it can have you come across as cruel, or too authoritarian. People with this placement have no idea how severe they seem.  They are often passionate yet misunderstood.

There is no question at all that Cowell is a fascinating dualistic personality with a tough side and an incredibly sensitive side. Chances are that nobody but the most intimate of partners will ever see that sensitive side and the public never will.

To alan: Since planets move pretty slow, an astrologer can do a chart using noon as the birth time if they know the day of birth, and month, and place, and it would still be pretty accurate.

Correction - Simon did not launch Jennifer Hudson's career. Don't you remember - he told her she was not that good. She didn't even win - but she became more famous than the one who did win - Fantasia - I think it was. Nothing is heard anymore about Fantasia.

How do you know what kind of chart Simon has, since the time of birth (hour and minutes are unknown? I thought the exact time of birth must be known in order to do the chart??????

Sarcasm is CRUEL & there's no reason to be cruel just because you can be! What about the Thumper/Bambi motto: If you can't say something nice DON'T say anything at all!! For those people who responded to this post who think it is excusable to just say mean things just because it's THEIR own personal truth! IT'S NOT - unless you are being paid - as Simon is to be a JUDGE! Because Simon's job does require him to be blunt - still there is a fine line between blunt to try to help others find things they can improve on & blunt that says UNNECESSARY hurtful things just because you can!

thumbs up Simon, I was born the same day but different year, 1952 and I'm just like you. I belive in getting it out in the open. If I hurt your feelings I'm sorry but whatever I say it is to help you, in my opinion. I say what I mean and hardly ever say i'm sorry. My motto "I would rather be hated for who I am , then loved for who I'm not.

Yeah sure he tells the truth but sometimes someone like that sould try and know their limits and not cross the line when they say something so rude that they end up making someone cry. I'm sure that neither of you ladies could walk away feeling happy from someone you just told the blunt truth to in a mean way and made them cry from it, could you?

Simon seems to have many good qualities, which I have noticed on American Idol. His statements are usually based on truth and if you really listen they are made based on trying to help the contestants. I have also read that he helped Fantasia (an ex-American Idol contestant) save her home from foreclosure. I think some of his comments are a bit of sarcasm...a personality trait which some people do not share.
