What Does My Dream Mean?
Sylvia Browne Interprets Your Dreams Psychic Sylvia Browne, World-renowned Psychic Sylvia Browne pictures

by Sylvia Browne

A popular question I always hear is, “Sylvia, what do my dreams mean?” People want to know how to understand dreams and dream symbols. Dream symbols can have many interpretations, not just a single one-line interpretation like a newspaper horoscope. Your dreams are interpreted by your very best dream dictionary: you! Your conscious and subconscious minds and wonderful body of experience are where dream symbols originate. Once you learn how to interpret dream symbols, you will be the one to define your dreams.

That being said, it is true that often some generalities about the meaning of dreams can be made. Some imagery and dream symbols can be very common and popular. No oneand I mean no onedreams just the way you do. When you look at a dream symbol, always look first to how that symbol could apply to your current life circumstances. There is no “right” or “wrong” when it comes to interpretationall that matters is that the answer resonates with you as the true and correct dream symbol interpretation.

To define dream symbols, begin by first understanding what type of dream you have had. Was it a wish dream, release dream, astral travel, lucid dream or a prophetic dream?

Some people don’t understand or believe that their dreams have symbols. Everyone’s dreams have symbols. Let’s do an exercise in personal symbols so that you understand them better. Even though you’re seeing these symbols while you are awake, this exercise will give you an idea of what symbols can mean to you. Get a piece of paper and a pen.

Now you will draw five objects: a house, the sun, water, a tree and a snake. Don’t worry about being a Picasso or the next Rembrandt. Just draw what you feel is right. Come back when you’ve finished your drawing. We’ll wait!

Did you finish your drawing? Okay, let’s interpret the symbols. You will see just how personal these symbols can be. Notice your impressions about each symbol before looking at the definitions.

The house. What are your first impressions about the house? The house is the symbol for you. Does your house have a door to invite people in? Is there a path to lead people into the house? Does the house have windows, to let people see in to you and you in to them? Is there a chimney for warmth? Does the house look good or like it needs extra care?

The sun. This is your father. How close is the sun to the house? Is the sun prominent in the sky? Does the sun give off warm rays?

The water. This is your mother. Is the water close to the house? What type of water did you draw? Is it a river or a pond?

The tree. This is your intellect. How large is the tree? Is it near the house? Is the tree strong and healthy?

The snake. This is your sexuality. How important is the snake in the drawing? How close is the snake to the house?

You can see now that everyone has conscious and subconscious reactions to symbols. So your dreams are full of symbols. Look for symbols in your dreamsas they are full of valuable meanings for you.

Love always,

Sylvia Browne

i have noticed that most of thetime that i meditate that i dont see and feel as much as i do when i dream.. the dreams have more meaning to me than meditation.. My sprit guide actually talkes with me in my dreams she brings me great comfort..I have been ill the last year and since my illness i have come closer to my spiritual side reading and learning as much as i can.. it brings great comfort to me I have read alot of your books and planning on getting more .i go to the library in my home town which has alot of your books. My life has been in such disaray since i had a stroke and financially and emotionally i pray everyday that a new beginning is in store for us.. the stress and the emotional roller coaster that we have been living is alot to handle.. i talk to my spirit guide everday and my husband thought i was nuts..he is i have to see it to be real.. well.. a month ago he stopped breathing and his heart stopped and they cant explain what happened he was in a coma for 4 days and when he came to he was amazed he couldnt believe that he had been out that long.. but the best gift that he received was knowing that my son and myself did CPR on him which saved his life .so since then hehas changed his deminer he believes in god and his power and believes that god has given him a second chance in now when i go to my alter in my room and pray and read and write in my journal he comes with me.. so this is our new beginning. we are blessed each and everyday no matter what problems tht you have they are not as important as having your life and now that you are loved... this is my inspirational story.. thank you so much more to com barb springfield ohio

Hi, Sylvia I don't know what's wrong with me, but I feel like I'm somehow open to other peoples emotions. I want to say that sometimes I feel what other people are feeling, but don't know if its just part of my own emotional state. Am I going crazy. I constantly imagine myself asking people "what hurts?" and then placing my hands just above that hurt and making it better all the while asking God to help me help them. I've also been having dreams of battleling haunted homes and telling the bad stuff that resides in there to go away. Is it my own state of mind or is it something else?

Dear Sylvia, While growing up at home, with my parents, I would awake every night around 3:00 a.m. to feeling a presence. I was a teenager at the time. This spirit seemed to go from room to room searching for something. I would reach a panic point and call out to my mother. My father later told me that a man had killed his brother in that house before we lived there and I believe this spirit remained and was searching for his murderer. I am no longer young but up in age but still have very bad dreams. Did this experience for so many years leave a mark on me. I wake feeling a presence by the bed or someone touching me or even lying next to me in bed. My husband tells me that this might be my father trying to visit with me because we were very close. Do you know who this presence is, is it my father? I asked this presence to please leave me because I am frightened by it, not knowing what is happening. If it was my father I would not have wanted to send him away. Can you tell me who is visiting me? Thank you for helping me find the answer and to understand what I might be experiencing. Bette

Sylvia, I have been watching you on Montel for a very long time and I am going to miss seeing you now that you are going in a different direction. I read your books and enjoy them all. I have written several questions to you but never see them anywhere in your site after I've sent them. For the past several years I am bothered at night by a presence near me while in bed. I believe I am awake. It seems to stay close, then either go over me or hold me down. I do not think it is an astral visit and my return. I have seen a black shadow over me, I have felt that I was being held down, and end up yelling out for help. My husband tells me I am sleeping and he wakes me and says it is all right. I feel I am awake during these episodes. I do as you say each night and ask God to not let me take astral trips and ask to have my angels around to watch over me. What is going on when this happens? I have also been in terrible pain for two years. I have had two hernia surgeries and my gall bladder removed. The pain is so much worse since the surgery. Was the one hernia caused by an incident during the last surgery? Will I ever be rid of these pain and be able to go on and enjoy life with my family. My husband and I are retired and want to do some travel but with all this pain I will not go. I pray for God to send someone someone for my daughter who will love her and she him and to spend their lives together. She is a wonderful person and deserves this happiness. Will she ever find love? Sylvia I would love it so much if you could help me. Thank you for being there for everyone, you have been so blessed with your gift and are using it as God wants you to, helping others. Much Love, Bette in Florida

Dearest Sylvia I posted a question to an angel August 11th. I already knew my answer, however I felt I needed clarification. Anyways, the night I posted the question I asked for a very clear dream. My question was "Do I help and support my male friend of 4 years with his issue or am I just wasting my time?" I was searching on your on the website for my answer, I could not find it anywhere. Only last night I fully realized that my dream gave me my answer. I did not need to read it in black and white. My dream felt so real that it woke me up. This was my dream on August 12th. I was standing outside. About 2 feet in front of me was a cloud formation in the shape of a GODHEAD. I inhaled the GODHEAD through my mouth until it was all absorbed inside my body. When I woke up I felt my heart chakra radiating light and so much warmth. I knew I was meant to support my friend. I knew he needed emotional and spiritual guidance. He is very trusting towards me and open to healing. I did touch healing on him a couple days before my dream. I began to cry during the session, when I picked up on his hurt, guilt and fear. I knew he needed guidance. Since then I see only positive changes and growth not only for him but myself also. Love does heals all hurts and fears. Sylvia, I thank you, bless you and love you for sharing your knowledge. God Bless, Lia from B.C. Canada

Sylvia, I had this dream the other night (but now I am not sure it was a dream). I have been having alot of these experiences lately. This particular one I saw my grandmother, my uncle and my aunt (whom are all passed on) I was standing on this high platform with this bright whitish blushish hue around us. My mother all of a sudden popped into the picture and said to my uncle and aunt "can I have some time with mom, you see her all the time and I miss her". Then everyone disappeared. I asked my mother the next day if she drempt about my uncle or my grandmother and she said yes and she said she was missing her mother and she felt her presence that same night as the dream. When I told her about my experience she said OMG it was as if you were there because I knew so much about her dream. Lately I feel like I have been going to a different dimension when I sleep. I know what dreams are but these places don't feel like dreams they are real. I wish you could tell me what I am experiencing. Linda in NY
