Understand An Indigo Child
Indigo Child Astrology Psychic Sylvia Browne, World-renowned Psychic Sylvia Browne pictures Is it possible to tell from a natal chart whether or not you or your child is actually an Indigo Child? An Indigo child is a gifted individual who may have been diagnosed ADD or ADHD (Attention Deficit Disorder). He or she is grandiose, can’t focus, is visually oriented rather than literary, strong-willed, and bores easily. On the other hand, this same individual may be very creative, have a flair for music or drawing, and easily bonds with plants or animals.

Indigo children are easily misunderstood by others, as they often feel very out of place. Many of them are also shy, non verbal, and old souls. They are also more likely to be psychic and suffer from nightmares. They are driven by non-material needs and have a deep desire to help the world in some way.

The first sign of an Indigo Child in a natal chart would be someone who was born after 1978. In theory, however, it has been speculated that there may be early Indigo children who were born before that time.

One peculiarity that seems to be common in the chart of many suspected Indigo children are clusters of planets on one side of the natal chart, making it appear to be very unbalanced. It is common for them to have six houses full of planets and six houses with absolutely no planets in the houses. This is perhaps why they do not come off as being well rounded individuals. Instead, they are over focused in some areas and have no focus at all in other areas of their life.

Indigo children can also have what is called a "cluster" or "bundle" in their charts. Several planets could be clustered in just two or three houses making them over focused in one area. These types of Indigo children tend to be very talented artists or geniuses of some kind that are intensely focused on one thing only which is to save the world in some way. They really do fit the description of that old saying "Genius is the fine art of compensation."

Yet another mark of an Indigo child is a chart where all of the planets are bundled below the horizon. The upper half of the natal chart describes our relationship with others, so this aptly describes how narcissistic and self-absorbed an indigo child can actually be.

A good proportion of Indigo children also seem to behave like royalty. They have huge egos and can be very stubborn. Many of them have suns and ascendants in Leo or Aries, which are the signs that like to think of themselves as being beyond the law.

Some Indigo children seem absolutely ludicrous in their pursuit of recreation and entertainment. They seem to be able to relate to movies, gadgets, and computers better than other human beings. This type of Indigo child may be very interested in animation and spend hours by him or herself drawing or playing video games. If this sounds like you or your kid, it is possible that you have two or more planets in your fifth house of fun. This is common in the charts of Indigo children who seem to have absolutely no sense of responsibility and who are difficult to push successfully through the school system. This does not mean that these fun loving individuals are not bright or shallow. They simply have an entirely different perspective on life and it rarely includes the work ethic.




Many Indigo children are also quite psychic. This is marked by the Moon in a water sign, such as Pisces or Cancer. A sun or moon in Scorpio or Pisces can also denote an intuitive Indigo child.

If the person has a lot of planets in Aquarius in his or her natal chart, this could also describe an Indigo Child. This is because many of them are supposed to be visionaries and Aquarius is the sign that symbolizes the future and the universe’s entry into the Age of Aquarius.

The astrologer E. Allan Meece wrote a brilliant book describing the generations to come and their quirky ways. In it, he states that the children born between 1982 and 1984 are flaky explorers of the world. They are influenced by having Neptune and Uranus in Sagittarius. They are shallow, fun loving, and cannot stay still.

Kids born between 1984 and 1988 are what he calls the “benevolent entrepreneurs.” These individuals have Pluto in Scorpio, Neptune in Capricorn, and Uranus in Sagittarius. They are driven to help the world.

Kids born between 1988 and 1995 are called "the committed one." They are focused by Uranus in Aquarius and Pluto in Sagittarius. These are inventors, intellectuals, and exuberant movers and shakers of the culture. 




Those born between 1996 and 2003 have been dubbed the "flame throwers." These kids, who are influenced by Uranus in Aquarius and Pluto in Sagittarius, are not too pleased about the world we have created for them and are going to rebel against the many legacies that we have left them.

The number of planetary lineups and conjunctions that occurred during these years has turned out a crop of exceptionally high energy human beings. Kids that have Uranus and Neptune conjunct in their charts tend to be especially brilliant, but also eccentric. A dead giveaway that you are dealing with an Indigo Child is if the Uranus and Neptune conjunction that occurred only in the charts of those born between 1984 and 1999 is somehow also aligned with their sun or their moon. 

Children born between 1999 and 2003 are also thought to be especially kind, intuitive and powerfully psychic. These are known as the Crystal Chidren.

Kids born after 2003 will show Mars prominently in their charts. as Mars was the closest that it ever has been to the earth in thousands of years that year. These Indigos will be the movers and shakers when it comes to dealing with things like the ecological and water crisises that have been plaguing our world.

 Hey, I don't know about the video games part of this but I am very psychic and my kids are as well, we are a strange bunch and never fit in with the rest of the family. My Son born in November of 1989 is so into comics and video games I had to enroll him in a different school with very little students so he could focus, my Daughter who wants to save everyone was born in 1987 and she and I can communicate from far distances and pray for people with fantastic results! I have grown up from 1961 to a family who thought I was an alien child! To this day I am called weird Aunt Lainy and I just go with it, I never sat still in school and I am a great student now, (still have to get up from the computer and do something else now and then) back then we didn't have people diagnosing ADD or ADHD and they just thought I was being stuborn and had to much sugar to sit though class. I have been able to raise my kids spiritualy and they are great adults now, (different) but that is what I love about them! Thanks for letting me air this as it always made me wonder!

I was born in 1955 and half of my natal chart in in one sign and the other half is split in just two signs - Major clustering. I have always been considered weird or a bit off in La La land. I could continue with further comparisons, but let me just say we primary Indigos are just now reveiling ourselves because we have had to be protected or go nuts; totally misunderstood. Both my children are Indigos and have had a difficult time of it. I was glad I was there to coach. Now I am concentrating on my grand children, you guessed it Crystals. Take heart other adult Indigos, we are here to teach and protect these new precious gems. I would like to hear more information on other adult Indigos...

 My nephew has a friend that has ADD,I was giving him a ride one day and he turned and told me out of nowhere that he always sees dead people, very strange kid but I guess I kind of understand why now. He does not sleep unless he is highly medicated.

 WoW!! This article especially caught my eye this morning and I immediately thought of my daughter. I've always wondered if she had some psychic abilities of her own. I know we were charted together to begin with; I just knew there was something about her. We both are Indigo Children and so is my 2nd youngest brother. He's the only sibling that I could ever really relate with, he's a good friend as well a brother. He was diagnosed with ADD at the age of three. Actually, all three of my brothers have some degree of ADHD to an extent. They were medicated but my 2nd brother always said he did and just hid them or spit them out. He can forever play video games, he's very stong willed, and he had a terrible time passing in school and eventually got his g.e.d. My mom had her hardest time with him because he would rather play video games then do his work. And he's still like that!! While reading this I was going yep, that's my daughter, that's totally me, oh my gosh that described my brother! I have a better understanding of my family now. I'm so glad I decided to check my email today. Thanks!
