Give Thanksgiving And Give a Hand
Give A Helping Hand This Thanksgiving Psychic Sylvia Browne, World-renowned Psychic Sylvia Browne pictures At Thanksgiving time, we are often reminded to “count our blessings” - to be grateful for what we have. It is good to take stock of your life and feel that warm glow as you realize you have a home, family and friends, a job, good health, and other blessings. The blessings seem to go higher and higher as you start to count. “I didn’t realize I had so much!” you may say as you take note. An excellent way to celebrate Thanksgiving is not only by giving thanks but also by giving a hand to others in your community who are in need.

There are many ways you can help people or society with issues in your community during Thanksgiving. The first step is to think about what tugs at your heart the most. Would you like to help the elderly, children, animals or some other members of the population? Likely, the first answer that excites you is the best one. Don’t worry! There are many ways you can give a hand this Thanksgiving.

If you want to help the hungry...

Serve dinner at a soup kitchen
Pack food bags at a food pantry
Collect food for a food pantry
Donate food for a food pantry or soup kitchen

If you want to help the elderly...

Visit nursing home residents who don’t have Thanksgiving Day visitors
Volunteer at your local Senior Center with an activity or project
Help an elderly neighbor during holiday time with grocery shopping, errands, or other needs

If you want to help animals...

Ask your local animal shelter if you can pat cats or walk dogs
Donate pet foods for hungry animals at the animal shelter
Sponsor a pet who is waiting to be adopted

If you want to help children...

Call your local school and see if they need anything for the holidays
Contact local daycare centers and see if they need holiday volunteers for crafts or events
Donate unwrapped gifts to Toys for Tots

If you want to help the needy...

Donate your old and warm coats to those who don’t have coats
Donate your gently used Fall and Winter clothing to thrift stores
Gather your extra change (purse, car and pockets) and donate that!
