The Meaning of 666
The Meaning of 666 Psychic Sylvia Browne, World-renowned Psychic Sylvia Browne pictures Perhaps one of the most famous numbers in numerology is 666, or the “number of the beast.” It might be of interest to note that the number is also known as the number of the goddess in pagan cultures.

Another thing about the number is that it is supposed to be a code name for the Roman Emporer Nero, who at the time was considered to be the Devil by Christians who were being thrown into dens by lions for their beliefs.  When written in Aramaic, the numerology of Nero’s name adds up to 666.  Codes were often used by both Jews and early Christians so they could avoid persecution.

So where do we get the idea that the Number of the Beast is 666? It is right in the Book of Revelations 13:18. The King James translation is...

 “Here is wisdom. Let him that hath understanding count the number of the beast: for it is the number of a man; and his number is Six hundred threescore and six.”




In the Greek manuscripts, the Number of the Beast is rendered in Greek numerical form. However, this changes the number to “six hundred and sixty-six.” This is also where the word hex for cursing comes from.

However, there has been some speculation that this number is a typo in the Bible and the number of the beast is supposed to be 616!

The oldest known record of the verse above is on a papyrus unearthed from the archeological site of Oxyrhynchus. 616 (which adds up to 13, which is also a number that is considered unlucky) The Zurich Bible, which is based on the oldest Bible manuscripts, also says the number of the beast is 616.

When it comes to the number 666 and the End of Days, some of the interpretations can get quite complex.




For instance, the Bible also says that the number 666 also is the Number of Commerce (also known as the Number of Currency). This is because there is a prophetic statement in Revelation 13:15-17 that says that the Beast will require that all people will need to receive the mark on their foreheads or right hands in order to buy or sell. Many Christians interpret this to mean that money is evil.

Some Christians say that it is a symbol for the social security number. Futurists who write about the apocalypse say that it is a symbol of a microchip or bar code that we all might have embedded in our third eye one day as a way of keeping track of us.

The number 666 is a holy number that is symbolizes the physical universe in the Kabbalah. The three sixes symbolize the mind, body, and soul and its potential for corruption/
In Satanist Churches, number 666 is also sometimes named as The Unholy Trinity representing The Devil, The Antichrist and The False Prophet.

 I am a Christian, but have never been bothered by what the number says. Besides it is all human theories and human will do anyting to get away with it. I believe what is in me, that is my soul. And to be honest Have never thought of the number, and it does not bother me nor scare me. Though a Christian this does not bother me. And the Bible is there to guide someone with whichever the direction they want to take. If they want to be honest or dishonest they just read the bible to cheat. I follow what Christ taught. And about money; oh I love money.

 We all attract what we believe and concentrate on the most. So, if 666 is a negative # for you it may attract negativity for you and vise-a-verse.

 I'm a Christian, as well as metaphysically inclined. And I don't believe the number 666 is evil. In fact, I don't believe most scriptures in the Bible can be taken as Holy Gospel. After all, they were written man and subject to interpretation by man. Not all of scripture is literal. It speaks more on symbolism, than actual fact. It's quite preposterous to be afraid of a number. If you give power to it, then that's what you get. So for those die-hard fundamentalists or others, who can't or won't open their minds. Get a grip on reality. It's only a number....

 I just talked to my brother about the statement in Revelation 13:15-17 and the following text about a mark that the Beast will require. Today there is a company in USA that have developed a microchip that is suposed to be placed on your hand. This chip will be used instead of your creditcard. And if you don´t have it in your hand, you can´t buy anything. This is a weird man wanting control over mankind. And, the amount of information that will be stored in this microship we don´t know today. But hey! This is not good!

 I WANT NOTHING AT ALL, TO DO WITH THOSE 3 NUMBERS, INFACT I BELIEVE THAT THE BEAST HAS CONTROL ON ALL THOSE PEOPLES WHO ARE USING THOSE --- NUMBERS. PEOPLE NEED TO CHANGE THEIR WAY OF LIVING, OR THEY WILL FOLLOW THE BEAST TO HELL.

 A funny story about 666. My daughter's boyfriend about 5 years before they met, had 666 tatooed on his arm. My daughter always used 666 in her e-mail addresses etc. (both a bit rebellious), when they had a son his number at the hospital was 00666. The hospital offered to give him another number, but they were both trilled with 666. My grandson is wonderful four year old now, and truly a gift. So 666 has no problem for this family

 I am not afraid of the number 666 as a matter of fact i think this #is holy because it will show us the evil unrightous people in the end. I am not talking aboout the people you think i am talking about there are people in our world who are not living a clean life doing crime selling drugs and such but these are not the people who will be marked. The marked is saved for those people who decieve the world. such as the people who are out womanizing and gambling on friday and showing up a church on sunday satan needs these people he does not need criminals he already has them he needs people within the churches to help stray all the rest of the people which he has done over 800 hundred years ago and yhese people started a church after from it and all the world will look upon it and it will be known by the mark of the beast Six hundred threescore and six

 The last 3 digits of my social security number are 666. I get alot of comments about it when I need to give out my social. All in all, it hasn't been unlucky for me.
