James Van Praagh was born in Bayside, New York – just minutes from busy New York City. James is the youngest of four children. Even as a child, he had a strong interest in death. James Van Praagh was raised in the Catholic faith and was quite devout. Her was an altar boy and entered seminary at fourteen. Later, James stepped away from Catholicism and developed an interest in spiritual matters.
James Van Praagh graduated from public high school and then graduated from San Francisco State University with a degree in Broadcasting and Communications. After college graduation, Van Praagh moved to Los Angeles, California and began to intensely study metaphysics and psychic development.
As his abilities developed, James Van Praagh did psychic readings for people that he knew. They were impressed with his psychic abilities and the depth of his psychic readings. While James Van Praagh was giving these readings, he started receiving information from people who had gone to The Other Side.
