What Is Reiki?
Meaning of Reiki Psychic Sylvia Browne, World-renowned Psychic Sylvia Browne pictures Reiki is a form of spiritual practice used as a complementary therapy that aids in the treatment of emotional, physical, and mental disease.

Mikao Usui developed Reiki in early 20th century Japan, where he said he received the ability of 'healing without energy depletion' after three weeks of fasting and meditating on Mount Kurama.

Reiki teachers and practitioners access universal 'life force' energy by picturing certain symbols to induce a healing effect. It is claimed by believers that anyone can gain access to this energy by means of an attunement process taught to them by a Reiki Master.

The belief is that the energy will flow through the practitioner's hands whenever the hands are placed on, or held near, the person to be healed. The person being treated can wear its clothes.  The belief is that the energy enters the crown chakra at the top of the head and then is emitted by the hands.

The idea is that the energy is intelligent making diagnosis unnecessary and the energy that is channeled from the Reiki master to the person to be treated enhances the natural healing processes. Some Reiki masters also heal from a long distance.

The energy involved in a Reiki treatment is said to be 'from the Universe,' rather than the personal energy of the practitioner and is therefore inexhaustible. Some teachings say that the energy enters the practitioner through the crown chakra at the top of the head, before being emitted from the hands. As a consequence, Reiki practitioners are taught that they can treat themselves with Reiki.

Some teachers state that if, on some level, the intended recipient does not wish to be healed, the energy will not flow.

Adherents describe Reiki as a holistic therapy, which brings about healing on physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual levels. It is said that healing may occur in any or all of these domains in a single treatment, without any conscious direction needed by either the practitioner or the recipient.

A whole body treatment in Reiki requires that the patient like down on a table and relax. Loose comfortable clothing is worn. The practitioner may meditate for a few moments and then place his or her hands on the recipient or hold them a couple of inches away, but over the afflicted area. Between twelve and twenty positions may be used with the whole treatment lasting from 45 to 90 minutes.

Some practitioners use a fixed set of hand positions. Others use their intuition to guide them as to where treatment is needed.

It is reported that the recipient often feels warmth or tingling in the area being treated, even when a non-touching approach is being used. A state of deep relaxation, combined with a general feeling of well being, is usually the most noticeable immediate effect of the treatment, although emotional releases can also occur. Whether or not one experiences any therapeutic effects might be up to the individual and their willingness to believe that the treatment is successful.

I see dead things in my toilet bowl.

Do you "see" dead people? Do "hear" things that go bump in the night?" Do you feel sad and have crying jags for no apparent reason? Are you "receiving messages" from your TV? If so, you're suffering from a severe anxiety disorder. See your doctor and tell him/her your symptoms and they may prescribe medication that may help. SSRI's like Prozac, Paxil and Zoloft have helped many people with such disorders. You may go to www.prozac.com or www.paxil.com or www.zoloft.com to find out more regarding these medications. You may even qualify for financial assistance from the drug manufacturers to help pay for your prescriptions. You owe it to yourself to treat your depression and dellusions. Medical science is here to cure you of your ailments. Please don't fall for any pseudo-science. There are NO so-called natural cures available. Reiki has been debunked for decades. It is JUNK SCIENCE! Listen to your doctor if you want auyhentic treatments and cures. Your doctor knows more than you think.

I can attest to the healing effects of this therapy. I was in a great deal of pain, along with several other strange health issues. I saw many different Drs. in several different fields, with no positive out-come. I was reclined in a dental chair with my tongue firmly clenched between my teeth, unable to force myself to open my mouth and release it. The individual examining me told me he didn't know what was wrong...blah, blah, blah. With my fingers clenching the arms of the chair and my face contorted in some spasming, twitching mask, he leaned in close and told me in a whisper that he might know someone that could help me. He led me and my husband into a small dimly lit room and gave me a name and a number. I still remember the relief I felt. But why the whispered offer of help and the need for privacy? He was offering me a solution that was "unconventional". He didn't want his colleages to know he was referring me to a woman who practiced a "non-traditional" form of medicine...long story short; Ariel is a gift from God. After all this pain and uncertaintee, here is this woman standing over me with a case of tuning forks and nothing else. Ironically (is there such a thing as irony?) I had often referred to myself as a tuning fork. I was seen by Ariel once a week for 10 weeks. She healed me with her tuning forks, her hands and her mind. I am indebted to the man that gave me her name and number. I am saddened that he felt vulnerable giving me that information. The idea that there are people out there in the big, bad world that could be helping heal what ails us, mind, body and soul, but aren;t able to reach everyone due to fear, seems un-American, un-fair and perhaps un-ethical.
