Why I Don’t Worship Angels

Some people that hear that I talk to angels look a little uncomfortable. They think that I “worship” angels in some way; that I must consider angels a religion. But that is untrue.

Angels can be religious and they are found in many of the world’s religions. Christianity, Judiasm, Hinduism, Zoastrianism and the Muslims all have angels. Some who are quite passionate about the study of angels call this study angelogy. That is simply “the study of angels.” But it is not the worship of angels.

The definition of “angel” is simply to be God’s messenger. I like this definition a lot because I think it also explains our relationship with angels quite well. They are messengers of God. So we do not see them as the Divine, but as messengers of the Divine.

This is not a religious forum and I personally respect all religions. It does concern me a bit when people hear that I talk to angels and they think in some way that I am worshiping the angels—because this is very much not the case.

What about you—do you consider yourself an angelogist? What do you think an angel’s role or duties are?

that is very well put, Maylin. We are to worship God and God only. It is easy to forget who is supposed to be the most important in our lives. If we put angels or anything or anyone else before God in ourlives, then we are worshipping that person or thing, and that is not right. However, again you are right in the fact that it doesn't mean that these other things are not important to us.

Angels, like all we know are messengers of God. We do worship God, but we do not worship His messengers. But if we worship our God, then why not worship angels too? I really think this is because God is our Almighty and we only worship one God. But even if we don't worship angels, that does not mean that they are not important to us. God and his messengers and disciples are very important to us.

For me I think angels and spirit guides are in the same boat to a point. Angels are those who guide us and heed their advice for the benefits of our decision making. Spirit Guides on the other hand, are always with us. They are in our HEARTS. They are more than our conscience and they protect us from almost everything. With regards to worshiping angels, I don't see anything wrong with it.

Yes we have different religions and beliefs. and i do respect other people's religions. it is true that angels are just sent to us by God. And their roles are to guide, help, and protect us. they are God's instruments and they are a blessing to us.

You know, sometimes we foget just how many different roles angels play. they are all around us and some are sent to conmfort us, while others protect us from physical harm and still others are fighting spiritual warfare around us. there are still other angels that fight the enemy to see that are prayers are not intercepted but get through to God. Satan is the prince and power of the air, and he and his demons try to intercept our prayers. There are special angels that fight to give us the chance to speak to our Lord. they protect our prayers and see that they reach Heavens gates.

You've nailed it right. They are just the messengers of our Creator. Sometimes people just make misconceptions that because we are so into angels they think we are worshiping them which is definitely not true.

i do not worship angels because i just worship God. but even if i do not worship them, they are still a part of my life. and angels are given to us by God to guide us always and lead us the right path. they are not being worshiped but the one who gave them to us is still God and God is the one that we are worshiping.

I worship only lord SHIVA he is considered the ultimate power of the world in my religion. But I respect Angles and also nature. Everything starts from god and ends in him, so I just worship god.

You're right, we choose what and who we worship. But it doesn't change the fact that we are clearly not supposed to be worshipping anyone or anything but God. PERIOD. Whether or not a person chooses to follow that is their own choice, but it's still the truth. Angels are spiritual beings but not divine.

@SunDrop Saying that worshipping Angels is like worshipping Lucifer is like saying that looking up to Bill Clinton is like looking up to a man with 7 wives, none have met the other 6. Divine beings don't really require worship, last I checked, Lucifer was cast out of Heaven for the sin of pride, and I'm sure that demanding worshippers would fall under the sin of pride. Worshipping them is something that is done by a followers free will.
