Why I Don’t Worship Angels

Some people that hear that I talk to angels look a little uncomfortable. They think that I “worship” angels in some way; that I must consider angels a religion. But that is untrue.

Angels can be religious and they are found in many of the world’s religions. Christianity, Judiasm, Hinduism, Zoastrianism and the Muslims all have angels. Some who are quite passionate about the study of angels call this study angelogy. That is simply “the study of angels.” But it is not the worship of angels.

The definition of “angel” is simply to be God’s messenger. I like this definition a lot because I think it also explains our relationship with angels quite well. They are messengers of God. So we do not see them as the Divine, but as messengers of the Divine.

This is not a religious forum and I personally respect all religions. It does concern me a bit when people hear that I talk to angels and they think in some way that I am worshiping the angels—because this is very much not the case.

What about you—do you consider yourself an angelogist? What do you think an angel’s role or duties are?

Yeah Alpha, there are really different types of angels. but just like me, i am only aware of our guardian angels because when i was a kid, it has always been said to me that i have a guardian angel always watching over me.

Angels were created before us and have different jobs. Some are messengers, some are warriors, some are watching over us. There are many others. Even Lucifer was an angel and the greatest one in Heaven. He was a covering for the throne of God, which was one of the highest honors. Music was created for him. He was banished with 1/3 of the angels that rebelled with him. These angels are dark angels. And they also walk this earth but there message is often deceptive and misleading.

Yes, Angels are just sent by God to guide us. They are not really worshiped because God should be the one to be worshiped. But Angels play a big role in our lives because they are the ones who are looking at us and who were given to us by God.

Alex, you are right in that the main religions that you named all use the Old Testament of the Bible. A lot of people try to hold to the belief that it is made up of fictional stories, but I believe that it is historic fact and that is why all 3 religions do hold to it. And angels are mentioned all through it.

I'm not surprised, though, that Judaism, Christianity, and Islam all share a belief in angels. As hard as it is to remember, all three of the great monotheistic faiths are closely related. Indeed, they're basically one basic faith (Judaism) which split into three very different branches (and more, if you count the divisions within each major religion) over the centuries. Even Greek mythology has its own angel-like minor deities and immortal beings, some of whom had the same "duties" as angels.

Angels were created by God and are messengers of God. They also have other jobs as well. Angles are certainly not to be worshiped. They are created being just as we are. Although they are heavenly beings. Their form is not the same as ours. God does send angels to protect us. And He does send angels to deliver messages to us from Him. But the decisions come from God, not angels. And I think you need to be aware that there are also other beings that do occasionally try to fool people into believing that they are angels. They can be very deceptive and you must know the difference between them.

That's a good question. I have never worshiped Angels per say, but I have always had the utmost respect for them and have always believed in their abilities to help and heal. However, I don't see how it would hurt if anyone worshiped them. To each his/her own on this one.

I don't think angels should be worshipped as such. They're a part of our everyday lives but not everyone sees that. Respect them, yes. Revere them, sure. Listen to them, naturally. But worshipping them? No, I don't see that as necessary or expected.

Wouldn't it be like saying we don't worship God? I'm a little confused because although these angels aren't miracle workers per se... they are sacred to me. So wouldn't it make sense to worship the angels?

Angels are not to be worshiped. You should not worship anyone bug God the Father and Jesus his Son. Did you know that Satan was once an angel? He is a fallen angel. They are not perfect and they can make mistakes just as humans can. You wouldn't worship another human would you?
