Animal Totems
by Sylvia Browne

Many people have asked me "What is a totem?" A totem is an animal spirit. We entrust our totems to stand by us throughout our lifetime.

Every member of the animal kingdom has attributes that our own spirits can emulate and connect with our own life theme. My son Chris' totem is the grizzly bear. This is a symbol of his life theme "warrior."

While some people may never actually see their totems, the energy of these animal spirits is always present with them. My own totem is the elephant, a symbol of strength and loyalty.

Your totem serves several purposes during your life. They serve as sentinels that stand guard on our behalf. This means if our totem senses a dark spirit or feels that we are somehow being threatened, they will instinctively try to scare off our enemies. They will do this as animals do: by growling, hissing or even acting aggressively.

Our totems also offer us positive energy just from their presence. Having this animal spirit in your life offers you many benefits.

Even the highest angels, the Principalities have totems. Their totem is the lion. Lions are known around the world as a symbol of both great strength and pride. This is the perfect totem for Father God's army of angels. All angels have totem spirits and they can call upon animals to intercede on your behalf when you need help or protection.

Sylvia Browne is without question, "America's #1 Psychic," an internationally known psychic and medium.

Sylvia, I had a dream a while back...I was full blooded Native American running and hopping in the mountains from rock to rock...it seemed back in the 1700 or 1800's...the rocks I was hopping on were big disk type like in the Nevada mountains...having a good time by myself...I was alone with no family...and I heard a moaning...a child that sounded in pain...but he wouldn't cry...just moaned...I ran around the mountain to the voice and it was a little boy that had his top leg slashed open...I felt like it was a mountain lion...I took the boy in my lap and put my hand over him to heal the slash...I mean it ripped his whole top leg open...then I woke up...I felt that dream was telling me something...I still remember the boys face..he was an Indian boy who was so strong and wouldn't cry...he was alone too and I took him as my own son...is a mountain lion my totem? or was that dream telling me I'm a healer? or saddest of all, did it tell me to get my son out of his situation with his father? I carry guilt over that...

I am not sure what my totem is, but cats seem to like me alot. I had 16 stray cats show up at my house and when I moved to an apartment after Hurricane Rita, Cats were still showing up at my door. I ended up with 5 cats. I love cats, but this seemed a little weird. People call me the cat lady because I can tame wild cats.

Hello Sylvia! You have my changed my life by enlightening my soul in every way. I can't thank you enough for everything you have done. My Mom and I have always been spiritual, but actually didn't "get it" until we started reading your books. I'm very curious to know what my totem is? Recently I had a dream about a dog jumping on me and covering my whole body with theirs, I felt so much love and comfort. Usually when I dream of animals, I feel negativity more than love...but not this time. Also, years ago my husband had a dream of me turning into a black panther and lunging at him! He had this dream when we started dating and thought it was really strange. Could this mean something? Is my totem a dog or panther? I thank you from the bottom of my soul, you have helped me become a better person and answered so many of my unanswered questions. You have given me my faith back and made me realize that I'm not crazy! Love you dearly and always, Katrina Kost

Sylvia, you are such a gift to all of us. Your books have certainly helped me in so many ways. I have no idea what my theme is in this life - seems like every time I turn around there is a major problem, but I get through it. I would love to know my guide or guides name(s); my angels name & now my totem. I forgot about the totem. I did read about it in one of your books. When I close my eyes lots of times I can see the head of a very large - beautiful white tiger. Could this be my totem? I hope so. When I do see this figure - what a warm feeling I get. Love & Much Happiness to you Sylvia. Peace be w/you.

Hi there Sylvia; My animal totems are Raven and Moose. Raven's have been with me since I was young. The moose gift was given to me, the day after my husband passed away. They are great comfort for me, and feel very honored to have the Moose population trust me. Some call me the Moosewhisper, lol, I am loving it! Thanks for all that you do Sylvia, from my spirt to yours' Thanks! :)

hello Sylvia, I have always had dreams since I was a little child of running on all fours like a cheeta or a fast cat. I would start running and then go to all fours and I could run faster than anything. I always thought that I had a cat for what you call a totum, i never knew what it was but i thought if it was something that i had a cat spirit , so it makes sence that you say their energy is always around us i feel it well i used to. So i was wondering is that a cowardish energy if it is always running is that its power how does it protect me if it just runs away? I had a very rough early childhood, as i am sure many have thats what makes us so much stronger, but was that energy just telling me to run away? i hope not i dont want to just run away i want to stand and fight. any information you can give me is great. also is that what my totem is a cat and what kind, also what does it do just run? i mean its great to run i always loved it it made me happy to be so fast it made me feel free but was that a defensive mecanism? thank you for you and being here to make this and others a better place and help others grow, you are wonderful. Dawn
