Dear Sylvia, and ALL pet lovers, I own a pet grooming salon and have quite a few pets. I've also had many in the past. I love all of my pets more than most people I know. I have 3 dogs~2 German Shepherds and a Chihuahua, 8 cats~ ! purebred Siamese and 7 mixed breeds, 5 Cockatiels, 2 Parakeets, 12 pet Rats, 2 snakes~ 1 Red-Tailed Boa and 1 Rosy Boa, and 2 aquariums full of guppies. My cats are 6 neutered males, and 2 female kittens who will also be spayed when they are old enough~ALL of my cats are INDOORS ONLY. I have never forgotten my pets who have passed, and am pretty sure~Father and Mother Gods willing~ will out-live them. I am rest assured that I will see them again when it is my time to go.I have read most of your books, Sylvia, and REALLY look forward to your new book about our beloved pets being on the Other Side. I have your book "Spirit of Animals" by you and your son, Chris. I had a reading done by Chris, and he was SO VERY ACCURATE answering my 40+ specific questions. I love my job grooming both dogs and cats, and have been working with pets for 25+ years. Thank you for your books, your lectures~I've been to 2 in Phoenix, AZ~I was lucky to have you autograph 3 books and your pet plaque. THANK YOU for everything you do and have done for so many people! These stories brought tears to my eyes. I could barely read them. I wish all of you find the peace you seek. At least we have to comfort we will see our pets again one day. I will pray for all of you.

This article really made me break down and cry. This past May during memorial day weekend, My bestfriend/dog Sasha was hit by a car. I'll have no closure until I know who did it. She was only 9 years old, and she was my everything. I just want to hold her one, I need some kind of peace.

I've had two pets that meant a great deal to me, one was when I was a child, he was a samyod/lab mix who we named Cubbie because he looked like a furry, cuddly bear cub when he was a puppy, all black and poofy. The other was an older dog that belonged to my husband, Bowler was his name and he was a Shepard/Dobie and whatever mix. Cubby was a dear companion to me as a child, he was my best friend and confidant in an otherwise lonely childhood. He called me mama, now I know that sounds weird but I swear he could say simple words. One night when my brothers and I were waiting up for my mom to come home from work, we had let him out to do his business, within minutes we heard a fast car, a heavy thud and a sharp yelp. We rushed out to the yard, Cubby limped towards us, by passed my brothers and came to me. I knelt in the grass and he laid his body over my legs, turned his head to me and with eyes so pained and full of expression I felt him say "Don't worry, I'll be looking out for you" he licked my tears and passed away. We later found out that he was hit so hard, two legs were broken, ribs were broken and his heart and lungs had been completely moved out of place. The vet could not believe that he managed to walk the 100 ft to get to me when he should have been killed instantly. I know he just wanted to reassure me that he would always be by my side when I needed him. Bowler, well he and I hit it off right away, my husband told me that I was the only person who was able to walk up to his car without Bowler going off. When I became pregnant with our first child, I think he knew before either of us humans knew. He became quite protective of me even to the point of standing between me and the door when someone came to the house. When our son was born, Bowler slept under his crib and alerted us to any little noise the baby made. When I was pregnant with our daughter, he again repeated the protection but after the birth, he slept between the children's rooms, always alert to suspcious noises. We finally had to put Bowler to rest when his quality of life was no longer there, he knew we loved him and we honestly believe that he only held on because he knew what our grief would be without him. For years we felt him watching over us and always felt safe that our angel dog was there. I can't wait to once again be joined with two very special pets and friends.

5 years ago 4 days before my birthday my perfect baby girl died of an aneurism with her head in my arms. She was a big beautiful grey Quarter Horse mare named Zips Gray Pie (Sue). Sue's love for me actually radiated through her eyes, we would stand for long periods of time with her forehead and face pressed against my chest, my arms wrapped around her face and my cheek nestled between her ears. She was just in her prime at 12 years old and had never been sick a day in her life before this with the exception of an eye injury a month or so before she died. I'd had my vet, who I worked for at the time, bring in an eye specialist from another state to do surgery on her because he was one of the best in the USA. Nothing was to good for Sue. When I was a child I always dreamed of having a horse just like her, even when I was showing an $86,000 show horse at 12 years old. I was owned by the BEST horse in the world and I will mourn her death until the day I die. I just wish I knew why someone I loved so much, more than life itself, was taken from me in her prime. I tell you what though, God sure does have the use of one heck of a perfect horse until I get over there. I have 2 other Quarter horses now but I'll always love Sue with all my heart, a head shot of her is the only tattoo I have and I'll never regret having her sweet face with me at all times through it.
