Most kids, if you let them would sleep with mom and dad every night because it's safe. So parents have to make the child's room feel just as happy and secure. What better way than to bring in the Angels...and hang them on the wall?
Heilege Schutzengel has painted some of the most famous Angel images, designed just for kids. His Angels are large, soft and majestic, often guiding young boys and girls to safety...maybe over a bridge or away from a dangerous cliff. Because his pieces tell stories, they hold a child's interest and get their imagination to hum.
Eleanor Vere Boyle also mastered story telling through painting. Enter Hans Christian Anderson who hires her in 1872 to illustrate his books.
And we can't forget Cherubs. They immediately connect with children because they look more like them. These soft creatures often play instruments and are seen being kind to birds and small animals.
It's just like the prayer says:
Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray the Lord my soul to keep.
May angels watch me through the night,
And keep me in their pleasant sight.
