The idea of the Apocalypse scares the hell out of most people; which, I think, is exactly the point. It is literally the end of life as we know it.
The word "apocalypse" comes from the Greek meaning "lifting the veil" or "revelation" ...that's how we know it from the Bible.
The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are Four Angels who deliver four specific messages to a fallen world.
The first rides a white horse and delivers Righteousness.
The second Angel rides a red horse and symbolizes war.
The third rides a black horse and represents famine.
And the Fourth Angel rides a pale horse and is simply called Death.
When it comes to the Angels, we love to think of them as delivering God's message of love, mercy, forgiveness and hope. That's why Highway to Heaven and Touched by an Angel are such big hits. But you don't see much out there about the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Still Angels...still messengers of God. We just don't like the message.
So I guess you can look at it two ways: Listen up now, or pay later. Either way, the messenger doesn't change...just the message.
