Getting To Know Your Spirit Guide

For a while there, it seemed that the popular trend was for everyone who consulted a medium to get the name “Running Water,” “Standing Bear,” “Silver Fox,” or something like that for their guides. Now I’m not trying to dispute the fact that there may be some Native American spirit guides, but it just seems that during my many decades of research, I would have encountered one of them. However, as with everything else, if you do hear a name, roll it around in your mind, see if it feels right, and then use that name – or change it, as I did with Francine, my own Spirit Guide. Just do whatever feels comfortable to you. Even though it makes it more personal to call a guide by name, I fully believe that it doesn’t matter what you call them – as long as you do call on them.

Some guides will appear to us as children when we’re kids ourselves. My son Christopher, whose guide’s name is Charlie, came to him in the form of a little boy and grew up with him. Francine, on the other hand, and grew up with him. Francine, on the other hand, always seemed to be about 30 years of age and stayed that way. This is somewhat aggravating to me, since I’m now much older and she’s still 30!

I’ve done enough research to believe that given my childhood (which featured a somewhat absentee mother figure), Francine took on the persona of an older and matriarchal person, while Christopher, who had a strong mother figure (me), might have chosen to have his guide be a helping buddy. In fact, imaginary playmates are spirit guides 99 percent of the time. Guides will come in as children to make it easier for their young charges to learn from them.

 Hi Sylvia, There are times I here someone call my name,and I am the only one home. Is this my spirit guide and can you tell her name.Since I moved to another state I do not here her or him any more. Why is that? Thank you Sylvia. Your books help me lot. Tonia

 SYLVIA, I HAVE MANY OF YOUR BOOKS, AND WHEN MY PASSED IN 2003, THEY WERE SO HELPFUL. NOW I HAVE YOUR CD'S AND I LISTENED TO ONE ON SPIRIT GUIDES AND I FOUND HIS NAME TO BE SAMUEL, WHOM I CALL SAM. NOW IT SEEMS LIKE SOMETIMES HE TALKS TO ME BUT IF I TOLD A SHRINK, THEY WOULD THINK I WAS CRAZY, I REALLY I KNEW WITHOUT A SHADOW OF A DOUBT IF THIS IS MY GUIDE?  Dear Sylvia, I don't even know where to start! You r so amazing and wonderful. I just recently got out of a 5year relationship and I felt as if I had lost all hope for anything and everything. I've always been a true and devoted friend to u and always believe what u have to say! I threw my hands up in the air and I ask God and the angels around me to help me, to move on with my life, for me my children and my family that never left my side even when i was stubborn enough to be with him!  Hi Sylvia, I wander if you can tell me who my spirit guide is. Some years back I got home from work and sat on my bed and instantly fell asleep then I heard a man's voice clearly say my name. I woke up and somehow instintively called my mother to tell her that i knew something was wrong in the family (which I have done several times). She told me she had just found out that my dad was having surgery the following day for cancer. I use to be able to tell when things happened in the family, which scared my mom and she always kept telling me to go to church. I guess I am not so open now as several things have happened to me personally, so I don't get "feelings" anymore. thank you.... Patsy

 Sylvia, I thank you for coming into my life and introducing me to "Azna". I talk to her all the time. She does listen... Oh! Congrats on your wedding annoucement, you both deserve the best.  Sometimes I here a clear voice say "Becky" and then all is quiet. I look up to see who it was and no one is in the room. Is that my spirit guide? Also, my cousin died and decided to have himself cremated. If he does that and we are not supposed to destroy our physical bodies, could he have returned to earth being my new cat Smokey? He is such a special cat that sometimes I wonder if he is my cousin Bob and that he chose to be here with me.

 One dream (or visit to the Other Side) i was rushing to meet a woman who i believe is my Spirit Guide. Her name is Jean Ann and there she was to greet me with a beautiful smile. Amazing. Standing on either side of her were two woman, both shorter than Jean Ann, and both smiling also. I don't know who the two woman were stand on either side of Jean Ann. After the meeting of 'smiles' i don't recall anything else. Woke feeling refreshed and happy to have finally met my guide ~ Jean Ann. Thank you Sylvia for being. I Love You and wish you all the happiness our planet offers.
