Getting To Know Your Spirit Guide
by Sylvia Browne

For a while there, it seemed that the popular trend was for everyone who consulted a medium to get the name “Running Water,” “Standing Bear,” “Silver Fox,” or something like that for their guides. Now I’m not trying to dispute the fact that there may be some Native American spirit guides, but it just seems that during my many decades of research, I would have encountered one of them. However, as with everything else, if you do hear a name, roll it around in your mind, see if it feels right, and then use that name – or change it, as I did with Francine, my own Spirit Guide. Just do whatever feels comfortable to you. Even though it makes it more personal to call a guide by name, I fully believe that it doesn’t matter what you call them – as long as you do call on them.

Some guides will appear to us as children when we’re kids ourselves. My son Christopher, whose guide’s name is Charlie, came to him in the form of a little boy and grew up with him. Francine, on the other hand, and grew up with him. Francine, on the other hand, always seemed to be about 30 years of age and stayed that way. This is somewhat aggravating to me, since I’m now much older and she’s still 30!

I’ve done enough research to believe that given my childhood (which featured a somewhat absentee mother figure), Francine took on the persona of an older and matriarchal person, while Christopher, who had a strong mother figure (me), might have chosen to have his guide be a helping buddy. In fact, imaginary playmates are spirit guides 99 percent of the time. Guides will come in as children to make it easier for their young charges to learn from them.

Sylvia Browne is without question, "America's #1 Psychic," an internationally known psychic and medium.

hello Sylvia,I have followed you for years my first actual contact with you was on a radio talk show and you suggested I get a better job and then I had the pleasure of watching you recreate a spiritual encounter in Sunnyvale at a Toys R Us in La Mesa California, i was an employee there when the movie was produced. I know I have a spirit guide but do not have any remembrance of meeting him or her.One incident that i can remember is one night i was walking home from work and i tripped and all the sudden I felt I strong hand reach out and stopped me from falling my chest hurt for several days after that. Could you please tell me who my guide is. I have had other experiences that I cannot explain and to tell anyone about it they would tell me I am crazy but I know they do not have open minds to except the fact there are spirit guides with us. I look forward to the next web cast on Jan 28. Good Bless.

In reading all your books I have tried for many years now to hear and receive messages from my spirit guide and I am sure that the guide is yelling to try to communicate with me but for whatever reason no matter how still or quite I am I get nothing and I am wore out on trying to reach my guide. =( Stephanie

Hi Sylvia, I saw my spirit guide when I was a baby. He's male. He makes staticky noises to try and get my attention. I believe I am clairaudient, and that Father and Mother God talk to me. I have read several of your books, and I love them. You are a really neat person.....Lisa

Sylvia, I was wondering how we find out who our Spirit Guide is. I know that I have angels around me. There have been moments in my life that I wouldn't be here today if I didn't have my angels.I ask favors of them when I'm in hardship times of my life and it just seems that they can't hear me.I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

I think that my Guide came to me in a dream about 10 years ago. Visited me in my own house. This dream started out in a dungeon in the time of King Arthur. I had the full flowing gown,in blue, with the tall hat with like a veil hanging out of the tip. I was going through some tunnels, like i was seeking out a particular prisoner, or trying to get away. Then like in a flash, I was at home, walking upstairs, and there lying on his side was a man, in full buckskin dress, long white hair, and the most gorgeous blue eyes I ever saw. As soon as I noticed his eyes, it was like i was frozen where I stood. He stopped only long enough to draw 2 symbols on my forehead, which I felt rise as he drew them. Almost like I was branded. I still feel these symbols sometime, and I know they are still there. A few yrs later, my husband told me that I said the name "Glen" when I was snuggling up behind him. I do not recall saying this. Then about 3 yrs ago, I saw a paint(breed of horse) that had ice blue eyes, and I scratched behind her jaw, and she got closer to me and places her oh so soft nose exactly right on top of where these symbols were drawn. I love horse, and I believe that the horse is my spirit animal. All this happened after I changed my religion. Is is normal to feel like I am being pushed out of a church when I went there to attend service? I have felt that EVERY time I walk into a church.
